Culottes are the perfect cropped trousers for summer and when styled correctly can look very cool. The issue with culottes is that they can make you look shorter or wider which we don’t want. Their unusual shape can either make you fabulously chic or unfortunately frumpy. The trick to rocking these trousers is all on top. The top you choose needs to be have less volume than the bottom. A nice slinky strappy top or fitted t-shirt gives a more refined look.
If you decide to wear a slightly oversized or slouchy kind of blouse then a half tuck is what you should do. Petite or shorter gals need to find the right length for the culottes to work for them. The key is to find a pair that hits a few inches above the ankle and that are streamlined on the sides.
What shoes should you wear with culotte trousers?
I would say these type of pants look most flattering with heels but for a more low-key casual look you can totally go for sneakers or low kitten heels. Just make sure your ankles are visible.
