Belt bags are still going strong showing us that they’re here to stay. This “embarrassing” accessory has made a strong comeback and is no longer associated with snap-happy tourists proudly wearing them below their waists. Todays bumbags, fanny packs or belt bags if you wish to call them are fashionable, practical and come in a variety of styles and textures.
I am obsessed with belt bags and whenever possible I no longer carry a purse around with me. It just feels good to not have anything hanging on your shoulders for a change.
Belt bags are easy to style. To get the trend right all you have to do is avoid pairing them with “touristy” outfits. Instead wear them with more pieces. My absolute favorite way of styling them is with tailored clothes such as blazers, structured coats, suits and dresses.
Besides their practicality another great thing about belt bags are the numerous ways you can wear them. You can:
- Wear them around your waist to cinch it and give you that flattering hourglass appearance.
- Across your body.
- On your hips like you would with a regular belt.
- Or even hanging it on your shoulder as you would with a purse.
My outfit today is very femme fatal inspired. All black, sleek structured blazer, combat boots and adding a multi-tool belt bag to cinch my waist. The strictness of my look is toned down a bit with the biker shorts I’m wearing and adds a different twist to my #ootd. I went for bold lips and polished pulled back hair to show that I’m not here to play, honey. Serving fierceness baby!
