A gilet also known as the sleeveless jacket is the essential layering piece. It’s warm, stylish and the perfect add-on to your winter wardrobe. You can wear it over t-shirts, sweaters and under jackets or coats.
Besides being a great layering piece, vests are also perfect for transitioning between seasons. The only thing to be aware of when wearing your vest is to avoid puffiness. Keep a streamlined appearance and don’t wear anything lumpy underneath. You do not want to look like you have squeezed into your jacket.
Now that we covered the basics, here a few ways to wear your sleeveless jacket:
- Under or over your coat. The whole “double coat” vibe looks kinda cool but if its too much, then button the coat/jacket thats underneath.
- Over your t-shirt, sweater. Basically any long sleeve top. Exaclty what I did with my #ootd.
- Over dresses. Just make sure your sleeveless coat is longer than your dress, otherwise it looks weird.
