Today’s focus is the plaid pattern and to be more specific, the plaid skirt. I think it’s fair to say that a plaid or tartan skirt is already a classic staple that is ideal for making a real statement. It’s actually a piece that can be transformed to many different styles. You can be edgy and go full grunge or go for the girly and preppy look.
A plaid skirt is a great and timeless investment for any fall/winter wardrobe.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when wearing a plaid skirt:
-Stay in the same color family. Tartan usually has at least three or four different hues interwoven in the design, giving you a wide palette of color choices.
-Plaid is a bold pattern, so avoid going overboard when accessorising.
-Plaid skirts are so detailed that it’s best to keep everything else plain and simple. Keep the top in solids, a subtle design or a print in one or two basic colors.
I paired my skirt with a simple red velvet top and layered with my favorite black coat from COS. I gave my outfit a minimal/futuristic spin by wearing silver ankle boots and accessorizing with silver geometric earrings.
