It is long known that essential oils not only smell amazing but also carry many benefits. A simple scent can evoke pleasure, memories instantly and when applied onto the skin they can affect our bodies. Essential oils have a powerful effect in sleeping disorders, stress and anxiety and so much more. I am going to focus on their ability to destress because that is how I have been using them so far.
Essential oils can be diluted by water and diffused into the air or a few drops can be gently rubbed into acupressure points on the body. I like to do the latter and apply them on my skin right before bedtime. I have noticed that 5 minutes after applying, my body starts to relax and slowly enter sleep mode.
A few essential oils you should look for if you’re having trouble sleeping or simply want to enter a calm state of mind are: lavender, jasmine, orange, ylang ylang. Each of these oils have their own unique ways of balancing and restoring what each of our bodies need.
Lately I have been using a roll on massage body oil by Lola’s Apothecary which I absolutely love. The Sweet Lullaby Soothing Massage Body oil has a blend of healing and relaxing oils such as lavender, rosehip, ylang ylang, sweet almond oil, vanilla, orange oil. It also has vitamin E and argan oil which help repair skin so not only do I get a good nights sleep, I also wake up with smooth radiant skin.
