As a blogger most of the time I work from home. As fun and as dreamy as it sounds ( I get to choose my own hours, work in my pj's and even take a day off whenever I want to ) it can affect creativity sometimes. There have been countless times where I have experienced " writer's block" and felt like I just couldn't produce anything interesting anymore. When you can't focus, and everything you do seems pointless .
Luckily through trial and error, I have found what works for me and keeps the creative juices flowing. You should try these too.
- Take a break. Step away from what you're doing and find something else to do. You can go for a walk, exercise, meditate.
- Power Nap. Short naps 15-30 minutes long, help your brain relax.
- Listen to new music. Playing the same songs over and over again can easily get boring.I always make sure I have a new playlist each time I'm writing and editing a new post. I've found it really boosts my creativity.
- Work outside your usual workspace. As much as I love my office, I sometimes feel like I need a different surrounding. Starbucks or similar style cafes are great options.
- Find creativity elsewhere. Just browsing on Instagram can really help getting out of the rut. Try scanning accounts that inspire ideas and lots of creativity.
- Write things down. Whenever a brilliant idea pops up write it down on a piece of paper. You don't have to use it now but it may come to use later.
- Clear your workspace. Lots of clutter = lots of distraction.
- Don't beat yourself up. Stop forcing things. It will only make it worse.
- Go out and do new stuff. Try new restaurants, go on weekend trips, visit a museum or gallery. The best ideas come from new experiences.
- Listen to motivational speeches. I often listen to TED talks. I find a number of them inspiring and motivating. Start your day with a fresh cup of tea or coffee and a nice TED talk to make you feel ready to take on your day.
Hope these help!
