What I’ve learned about blogging so far

If someone ever told me that my full-time job now would be blogging, first I would ask him " what's a blog" ( no joke. I found out what it is pretty late.) and then would stare at him as if he was totally insane. Ever since I started Chic Glam Style about 2,5 years ago, I have experienced all sorts of things: excitement, ups, downs, meeting new people, living new experiences, setting new goals and learning new things about myself. Now that I think of it, I have done a lot in 2 years! Things I never knew I was capable of and doing things I that I would only do in my wildest dreams. So what have I learned in 2 years of blogging?

BE UNIQUE.

I'm stating the obvious here. If you really want to stand out you gotta do your own thing. When I first started , I tried creating looks that people would "approve" and like more and to be honest I felt like I didn't know what the heck I was doing. I don't seek approval anymore. I do and wear what makes me happy. If that means that you'll see 80% black outfits , then so be it. I don't do much color dahling!

WORK HARD

"Make your own luck". The harder you work, the more opportunities show up at your door, the greater chances to achieve your goals. Whoever said blogging is easy, hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. Creativity and great content set you apart from "meh". Unless you want to be a mediocre blogger,  try pushing yourself more each time. Set new limits.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

Okay, unless you are so lucky that your blog goes viral after a few months of starting it, you have to learn that patience will determine how far you will go. I wish someone told me that the first year of blogging will move slow, it would save me a lot of disappointment and frustration. You have to go through the baby step process to start seeing major progress.

HAVE A BACKUP PLAN

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Don't quit your daytime job unless you're certain full-time blogging will get dem bills paid. I am a full-time blogger but I also occasionally model and will also be starting my own brand ( Chic Glam Label ).

SHAKE HANDS

Building relationships is extremely important. I know that many projects and opportunities I had, came from meeting people at parties and events. Making connections always pays off. Attending social events also helped me overcome shyness and grow my confidence. It showed my a side of myself i never believed I had.

BALANCE

I'm lucky to enjoy what I do, but that comes with a cost if you can't set boundaries. I love blogging so much that I reached a point where I couldn't turn down an offer. I had so much workload it was beyond me. I started suffering from panic attacks and stress episodes ( because I feared not making the deadlines ). Long story short, I went to a doctor and he strongly suggested I learn to say "no".While I love it, blogging will still be there tomorrow. My well-being and sanity come first.
