The Duster Coat

Hello from Milano babes! I am here on a business trip for a few days but on my free time I sneak out for street style outfit pics. I will be doing a short travel diary of my trip in Italy so stay tuned for that.

As we slowly move into Spring, time is coming when thick long coats are no longer necessary. This is where the perfect transitional jacket gets in the picture. Duster coats will be your go-to outerwear piece (on their own or layered). This floor-grazing style makes a statement on its own so no need for anything but simple casual pieces underneath. It's light, versatile ( can literally be paired with anything ), comfy AF  and the really long version ( as seen on me ) adds a bit of drama with its flowing fabric. I paired mine with an all black ( as usual ) look just to let my coat be the centerpiece.

The Varsity Jacket

It's sporty, it's chic and urban. The Varsity jacket is mostly known as a traditional staple at high school and college but gained high popularity in the fashion scene when Michael Jackson rocked it in the 80's. Ever since it's been seen on numerous runways such as Alexander Wang and Givenchy.

I love its tomboyish aesthetic and the fact that it can be worn in so many ways. These jackets can be oversized or cropped and fitted and can be paired with jeans, dresses, any type of skirt, edgy accessories....well just anything basically. It.'s a great piece to own in your repertoire, as it's a fantastic alternative to a basic blazer or motorcycle jacket, Keep it simple: Wearing lots of layers can make your varsity jacket seem bulky.Stick to a sleek, simple silhouette.

Since I'm a fan of the leather and something else combo, I wore my jacket with faux leather leggings and a bralette/crop top. I didn't want the look to be very athletic so I opted for my cute lace-up, open toe booties. This way I get the right balance of tomboy, feminine and edgy.

Fishnets and Clear Perspex

Ever since Dior sent their Perspex booties down their AW15 runway everybody has gone mad about them. Not long after, many different versions appeared and recently the clear bootie is dominating the fashion world. Now, just because this is trending and looks uber cool doesn't mean it's for everybody.....I'm gonna be honest, if you are gonna wear these just as they are, you gotta have pretty (and perfectly manicured feet). They're see through and definitely attention seekers so everybody, I mean everybody is gonna look at your feet. If you weren't blessed with a gorgeous pair then fear not because socks and stockings could do the trick for you. I think the magic with these type of boots is that you can actually give the illusion of wearing a different pair of booties each time you wear a different pair of socks. Pretty awesome huh? And I swear you your feet don't stink after wearing them haha! They have tiny discreet holes on the sides of the shoes that obviously are there to help your feet breathe.

For my look today I combined two trends in one. Fishnets are huge right now and will continue to be in Spring. They're a versatile basic that adds a bit of edge to almost any outfit, whether you wear them under a pair of ripped up jeans or with a classic little black dress. I went for high waist distressed jeans and a crop on purpose, to give a little peekaboo factor with the fishnets.

What do you think of this look? Are you a fan of clear booties? How do you pair your fishnets?

Winter Whites

Winter whites are perfect for lifting the mood in the drab weather. They give you spunk and can even make you the center of attention. However, it may be difficult to figure out the perfect way to wear winter whites. So, here are a few tips to give you the power to rock an amazing look:

-When picking out the perfect winter whites, consider layering with rich fabrics to give the look plush and texture. Layering is a practical way to counter the weather and still make a fashion statement.

-Accessorize with dainty, minimal jewelry to give the look some character. The clothes alone make you look incredible but adding a few rings or a cool gold choker can edge up the look.

-If you work in a formal environment, try wearing a white jumpsuit and cover it with a nice white jacket. This gives you a touch of class and elegance paired with a practical look.

-If wearing all white is too overwhelming for you, you can pair your winter whites with black items like shoes, a sweater, a hat or even a watch. This tones down the look and adds a bit of glamour to it.

-Try a white carry on. It can be a sleek leather bag or even a backpack. Either way, a white carry on is a unique way to wear your winter whites while making a fashion statement.A white faux fur coat is another excellent way to wear your winter whites. It’s both classy and fun. The best thing about a fur coat is that you can pair it with other colors if you want to tone the look down and you can wear it over your regular clothes and still look amazing.

-You can wear brilliant white winter clothes or you can try other shades that aren’t as bright. You can also tone things down by wearing shoes, bags, and accessories of different colors to give you a pop of color.

I opted for the minimal version and to tone down the " Whiteness" I paired my white shift dress with black heels. Notice that the black stripe on both sides of the dress also tone it down a little.

The Bell Sleeve Trend

bell-sleeve-trend

A trend that definitely didn't go unnoticed in 2016, the " Bell Sleeves " will continue to dominate our SS 17 wardrobe essentials. Yeap, voluminous sleeves are still going strong whether you love 'em or hate 'em. I wasn't really a fan when it recently broke again into the fashion world but it slowly grew on me. There are so many ways to pair this type of top, that it's easy to dress up or dress down. The only thing to keep in mind is not to over accessorise. These extravagant sleeves are impressive on their own so there's really no need to add anything else. If you must wear accessories, try dainty necklaces, rings. I always tend to go for the edgier version in outfits so I paired my bell-sleeve top with faux leather skinnies from Zara ( new collection and only for 19 euros ! ) and suede booties. Remember what I said above about not over accessorising? I finished my look simply by adding a minimalist style choker.
